french creek Vineyard

french creek vineyard - yakima valley - prosser, Washington State

French Creek Vineyard, established in 1981 with the planting of 9 acres of Wente Clone Chardonnay. The vineyard is located on a South-facing slope above the Yakima River and lies at the edge of canyon allowing for great air drainage especially during spring frosts. The soils are mainly silt loam with weathered and unweathered basalt bedrock. Expanded plantings of multiple clones of Chardonnay including a masal selection from the old block, Mt. Eden and Robert Young, the first of these planted in the state. The east half of the property includes Bordeaux varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon (28 yrs old), Merlot and some Cabernet Franc. High density plantings of Rhone red grapes like Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre with a small amount of Rhone whites like Grenache Blanc, Marsanne, Roussanne, Viognier, Clairette and Picpoul.  Addga Northwest has been sourcing Robert Young clone Chardonnay and old vine Cabernet Sauvignon since 2018.
